The colour is garnet red with ruby nuances. The aroma is intense and persistent, with clear scents of spices, cinnamon, absinthe, tobacco and dog rose. Full and elegant taste, with soft and enveloping tannins. The spicy and woody notes merge perfectly together.
It goes well with traditional egg pastas from the Langhe (tajarin), meat-stuffed ravioli, red meats, boiled meats, braised meats and game. It is ideal for sipping alongside sheep and goat toma cheeses and hard ripened cheeses.

Marchesi's 2013 Barolo del Comune di Barolo is plump, supple and fruit-driven, all qualities that make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. This is an especially juicy style for the year. Sweet red cherry, plum and spice meld into the inviting finish. The Barolo del Comune di Barolo is one of the entry-level offerings in the range, but it is also one of the best balanced and pleasing wines among these new releases.

Red berry, white pepper and dried herb aromas lift out of the glass along with a whiff of espresso. Linear and rather lean, the vibrant palate offers sour cherry, clove, toast and a hint of oak-driven spice. Firm close-grained tannins grip the finish.
