As always, our goal with this wine is to simply make the best red wine possible from our estate vineyards—no varietal designation—just pure estate greatness. This wine is immediately seductive with red fruit, rose petal, sandalwood and dried herbes de Provence. Mostly from our estate
McQueen Vineyard, there is an elegance to the power of this wine that is ultra-balanced, and rich. The addition of Petit Verdot plays nicely with the Cabernet Sauvignon in elegance and power. This wine lingers with a small sense of oak sweetness and has a really sexy finish. I am very proud of this wine. Drink now through 2045.~Josh McDaniels, Winemaker. For former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe, his field of dreams always extended way beyond the stadium turf—all the way back to the Walla Walla Valley, his hometown. During his 14 year career, Drew had his eyes set on his post-game plan and upon his retirement in 2007, returned home to plant his original estate vineyard, McQueen, on the southern end of the Walla Walla Valley AVA. The following year, in 2008, Drew and his wife, Maura, launched Doubleback as an estate-focused winery with the goal to produce world-class cabernet sauvignon—the winery’s name a reference to his return back home. To make his dream a reality, Drew hired Josh McDaniels away from Figgins Family Wine Estates where he trained for over a decade. Josh, now President & Director of Winemaking, is also a Walla Walla native, was named a “Game Changer of Washington Wine” by Wine Enthusiast and has most recently earned Doubleback’s highest rating with 97 points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Since the very first release—the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon—Doubleback has received numerous accolades including a spot on the Wine Spectator Top 100 List.

The ride begins with blueberry and black olive aromas graced by anise and thyme notes. Grippy tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel accompany the wine's red raspberry, pomegranate and cedar flavors. There's also a wee spice note that's difficult to pin down. Enjoy with steak and portobello mushrooms from 2024-2038.

A handsome and distinguished red, with well-structured accents of blackberry, dusty herbs, black olive and river stone that gather tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032. 2,247 cases made.
