This bang-for-the-buck bottling out of the Central Coast kicks off with aromas of lavender, rosemary and purple fruits that lead into a hearty palate, where blue fruit, asphalt and cracked pepper flavors arise. Strong acidity and elegant tannins ensure cellar worthiness as well.

The 2022 Syrah Tous Les Jours is a fabulous entry-level offering from Andrew Murray. A blast of dark cherry, plum, mocha, scorched earth, licorice, spice and espresso are all dialed up. It's on unreal value. "This get's a lot of really good stuff," Murray adds. No kidding. That's patently obvious. Considering fruit costs, at its retail price, the margins on this wine are close to zero. Production of 8500 cases means there's plenty to go around.

Another value release from this terrific producer, the 2018 Syrah Tous Les Jours is all Syrah, from a mix of vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley, that was mostly destemmed and brought up in neutral oak. It's deeper ruby/purple hue is followed by a ripe, textured, yet still complex, cool-climate-like Syrah that has lots of peppery herbs, smoke game, and assorted darker berry fruit aromas and flavors. It's California's answer to a terrific Saint Joseph and will evolve nicely for 4-6 years or more.

Robert Parker 90 "Medium to deep ruby-purple, the 2017 Syrah Tous les Jours opens with notes of tar and smoke, giving way to peppered meat, black olive and dense black and blue fruits with floral notions. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with dark fruits firmly framed by ripe tannins and lifted by juicy acidity, finishing long."
