The 2016 vintage combines the rich aromatics of German chocolate cake and cherry cordial with notes of savory black pepper, spice cake and bay leaf. The mouthfeel is both plush and structured, ensuring that this elegant and balanced wine will age gracefully over time.

A blend of Syrah and Pinot Noir, the 2018 Grand Cheval has a deep ruby color and takes some time in the glass to offer scents of black cherries, aniseed, iron, coffee beans and grilled meats. The medium-bodied palate has concentrated, mineral-laced fruit, an abundance of grainy tannins, fresh acidity and a long, iron-laced finish. Give it another 2-3 years in bottle.

A blend of Dundee Hills Pinot Noir and Walla Walla Syrah, this counterpoints the winery's numerous Pinot Noirs with a most interesting fusion of flavors. Initially bursting with juicy raspberry fruit, it continues to add blueberry, lemon rind and a touch of orange marmalade, all buoyed by ample acidity. Drink now-2025. Score: 93, Paul Gregutt, April 1, 2020

Coming from the Oregon side of the Walla Walla, the 2018 Oregon Red Wine Grand Cheval is composed of 70% Syrah and the remainder Pinot Noir. It is sunny with black plum, scorched earth, and lavender. The palate is ripe and juicy, with blackberry preserve, mocha, and turned earth. This is a fruit-forward red to drink 2023-2030.

Mixing Pinot and Syrah, this atypical blend offers dark berry, savory forest floor and spice accents framed by drying tannins. Syrah and Pinot Noir. Best after 2023. 2,797 cases made.
