The savory nose oscillates between woodsy aromas of tobacco leaf, soil and cedar and then metallic notes of graphite and meat jus, before opening onto a palate of ripe cherries and strawberries with a salty, mineral edge held up by sturdy tannins.

Expressive upon opening, the 2020 Chianti Classico Vallenuova is generous with ripe red and black berry fruits, violets, and candied licorice. It is open-knit and approachable, with medium body, ripe tannins, and juicy red cherry throughout, followed by savory tomato leaf on the finish. This is an inviting and pleasurable wine to drink 2023-2030.
Vinous

The 2020 Chianti Classico Vallenuova is a racy, exuberant wine. Super-ripe red cherry, spice, mint and sweet oak all race out of the glass in this mid- weight, inviting Chianti Classico from Tolaini.

The 2020 Chianti Classico Vallenuova (with 30,000 bottles made) is a medium-bodied blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo that ages in oak botte for 10 months. Truth be told, this wine performs with almost clockwork consistency vintage after vintage. This edition is slightly on the riper side, but the differences are minimal. Dark cherry and blackberry are followed by cigar ash, crushed flower and warm earth.

An accessible red, with black cherry and blackberry flavors framed by leather and earth. A smoky iron note lingers. Sangiovese and Canaiolo. Drink now through 2025. 2,500 cases made, 500 cases imported.
