Aging in wood has given this rich blend of Aragonez, Syrah and Touriga Nacional both depth and concentration. Its black-fruit flavors offer a powerful character to a wine that has a firm structure to balance the ripe fruitiness. Drink this wine from 2020.

The 2016 Cicónia The Reserva Blend is an equal blend of Aragonez and Touriga Nacional with 20% Syrah, all aged for nine months in an equal mixture of used French and American oak, plus fermentation with French staves. It comes in at 14% alcohol. This is a nice upgrade over the regular Cicónia. While that's nice for the price, it is well worth stepping up to this more concentrated wine. This adds depth and a richer feel, fine concentration for the still-modest price level and beautiful texture to define the ripe flavors. Now, it is certainly not the biggest, deepest or best structured here, but it is a very nice deal for modest money.
